The Closing Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily closing operations of the child care center, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff. This role combines management duties with the flexibility to support classrooms when needed. The Closing Manager provides leadership during late-day hours, ensures licensing and center policies are followed, and serves as the point of contact for families and staff at closing time.
- Supervise late-shift staff and maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
- Float in classrooms as needed to support teachers and ensure smooth operations.
- Oversee daily closing procedures, including safety checks, cleaning, and securing the building.
- Communicate effectively with families during pick-up, providing updates as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations and center policies.
- Support staff with classroom management, guidance, and problem-solving during the closing shift.
- Monitor and respond to any incidents, accidents, or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate attendance, sign-in/out records, and closing documentation.
- Assist with daily transitions and end-of-day routines for children and staff.
- Report any maintenance, staffing, or operational issues to the Director.
- Previous experience in child care, early childhood education, or related field required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, remain calm under pressure, and handle unexpected situations.
- Knowledge of state child care licensing requirements preferred.
- Must meet state requirements for working in a licensed child care facility (background check, health requirements, minimum age, etc.).
- Part-time, typically afternoon to closing hours (e.g., 2:00 PM – 6:30 PM, depending on center hours).
- Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Frequent bending, sitting on the floor, standing, and active engagement with children.
